Millie Suk sets Augsburg career goal-scoring record with hat trick, Augsburg beats Martin Luther 6-1!

NEW ULM, Minn. (9/3/05) -- Claiming her third collegiate hat trick, Millie Suk * set a new Augsburg College school record for career goal-scoring, leading the Auggies to a 6-1 win over Martin Luther College in a nonconference women's soccer game on Saturday afternoon.

Suk scored her first two goals in the first 14 minutes of play, then broke the school's career goal record with her third goal of the game, and 32nd of her career, in the 50th minute. Suk's 32 goals break the old record of 31, set by Kara Seibel (1991, 1993-95).

Augsburg is now 1-0-1 on the season, while Martin Luther is now 0-2-0.

Suk added an assist for a four-point day. Meanwhile, teammates Mitra Rahimi (So., Eden Prairie, Minn.), Eilidh Reyelts (Sr., Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall HS) and Katie Medd (Fr., Mankato, Minn./East HS) scored the other Auggie goals.

Noreen Hogan (So., Moline, Ill./Alleman HS), Jackie Keller (So., Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) and Emily Anderson * (Jr., Hudson, Wis.) had two assists each for the Auggies. Medd added an assist for a three-point day, while Kelsey Watsabaugh (Fr., Hopkins, Minn.) also had an assist.

Augsburg goalkeeper Maggie DeGroot (Fr., Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West HS) nearly claimed her second straight shutout to start her college career, but gave up a goal in the 84th minute.

Augsburg outshot Martin Luther by a 29-9 margin, including a 20-4 advantage in the first half, as the Auggies built a 4-0 halftime advantage.

Rachel Wehrenberg (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) made 11 saves for Martin Luther. Adrienne Osmus scored the lone goal for Martin Luther, assisted by Jenni Mueller.

Augsburg returns home to Edor Nelson Field on Tuesday (9/6), hosting Northwestern-Roseville at 7:30 p.m.
