Augsburg goes 2-2 at Northwestern-Roseville Labor Day Invitational

ROSEVILLE, Minn. (9/1-2/-6) -- Katie LaGrave (Jr., Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS) earned all-tournament team honors for Augsburg College, as the Auggie women's volleyball team finished in third place with a 2-2 record at the season-opening Northwestern College-Roseville Eagle Volleyball Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Ericksen Center.

On Friday, Augsburg opened the tournament with a loss to Wisconsin-Superior in five games (30-32, 30-25, 30-18, 28-30, 15-9), then won a four-game match with Waldorf (Iowa) (30-20, 30-23, 22-30, 30-18). On Saturday, Augsburg lost a 3-1 decision to Macalester (30-27, 27-30, 30-25, 30-28), but rebounded with a win in four games over host Northwestern-Roseville (30-23, 30-19, 25-30, 30-16).

LaGrave, a middle hitter, claimed team highs of 46 kills (2.71 per game), a .342 attack percentage, and 16 blocks (five solo) on the weekend, earning a spot on the eight-player all-tournament team. She collected nine kills and five blocks in the match against Wisconsin-Superior, 10 kills in the match against Waldorf, 12 kills and eight blocks (four solo) in the match against Macalester, and 15 kills and two blocks against Northwestern.

Dani Boner (So., Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) collected 36 kills and 29 digs, claiming two double-doubles – 16 kills and 15 digs against Wisconsin-Superior and 124 kills and 11 digs against Northwestern.

Julie Jenkins (So., Edina, Minn.) claimed 84 assists, 21 kills, 10 blocks and seven service aces on the weekend, while Shanna Reed (Fr., Eagan, Minn./Holy Angels HS) collected 78 assists and 23 digs.

Liberos Haley Bower (Jr., Brainerd, Minn.) and Tina Quick (Jr., Blaine, Minn./Centennial HS) had 62 and 45 digs, respectively, on the weekend. Kristina Lurken (Jr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) collected 25 kills, while Amanda Rueb (So., Plymouth, Minn./West Lutheran HS) had eight blocks (three solo).

Augsburg has its first home match of the season on Wednesday (9/6), hosting Bethany Lutheran (Minn.) at 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
