Second-half run leads Carleton to 76-59 win over Augsburg.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/20/07) -- Bryan Rosett (Fr., Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS) scored a career-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting and added nine rebounds as Carleton College shot 56 percent from the floor in beating Augsburg College, 76-59, in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Carleton's West Gym.

Darren Nelson (So., Richfield, Minn.) led the Auggies (8-8 overall, 5-6 MIAC) with 11 points. Jon Cassens (Fr., Prior Lake, Minn.) had nine points, three assists and two steals for the Auggies, and Dan Graf (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) had eight points and eight assists. Femi Solaja (Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn./St. Paul Harding HS) scored eight points with five rebounds.

Zach Johnson (So., Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) added 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Jake Phillips (Sr., Brainerd, Minn.) netted 16 points and six assists for the Knights (7-9 overall, 6-5 MIAC), who won for the third straight time and earned a season split with Augsburg. Jeremy Sutherland (Fr., Eagan, Minn./St. Bernard's HS) added 11 points and seven rebounds for Carleton.

The Knights took a 37-31 lead at the half, but the Auggies scored the first two baskets of the second half to pull within two. After a Nelson jam, the Knights responded with a 30-12 spurt, pushing the lead 20 with less than five minutes left. The Knights held the visitors to four field goals during the 13-minute stretch.

The Knights made 29-of-52 shots from the field (55.8 percent), outrebounded the Auggies 33-32 and shot 24 free throws, compared to 14 for the Auggies. The Auggies made on 3-for-14 from three-point range for the game and only 10-of-30 field goals in the second half.

Both teams are in MIAC action on Monday (1/22) at 5:45 p.m., with Augsburg hosting Gustavus and Carleton hosting Concordia-Moorhead.
