Carleton claims 59-47 victory over Augsburg.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/17/07) -- Hannah Oken-Berg (So., Portland, Ore./Lincoln HS) scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds and Carleton College limited Augsburg College to 26 percent shooting in besting the Auggies, 59-47, for the 14th consecutive time, in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Carleton's West Gym.

Sarah Lincoln (So., Rockford, Minn.) added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Knights (12-3 overall, 9-3 MIAC), who shot 48 percent from the floor. Annie Isler (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) added seven points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds for Carleton.

Kristina Lurken * (Jr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) paced Augsburg (1-14 overall, 1-11 MIAC) with 19 points, three assists and three steals. Jacci Mattern (So., Lakeville, Minn.) and Katie LaGrave * (Jr., Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS) had nine points and seven rebounds each. Megan Krumrie (So., Elk Mound, Wis.) had six rebounds and two assists.

The Knights took control from out opening tap, with Oken-Berg scoring three buckets in the game's first 3 minutes, 40 seconds, as the Knights led, 10-2. The hosts continued to score inside against the Auggies, pushing the lead to 17-4 on a Lincoln layup. The Auggies pulled within eight on a Lurken triple but the Knights led, 33-20, at the half.

The Knights kept the margin at double figures in the second half in cruising to their 58th home win in their last 64 games against MIAC foes, dating back to the 2001-02 season. Forty of the Knights' 58 points came in the paint, as they outscored the Auggies, 40-10, in interior baskets.

Both teams return to MIAC play on Monday (1/22) at 7:45 p.m., with Augsburg hosting Gustavus at Si Melby Hall and Carleton hosting Concordia-Moorhead
