MINNEAPOLIS (12/1/07) -- Andrew Doble (SR, Sarasota, Fla./Cardinal Mooney HS) came off the bench to score 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field, part of a 41-7 bench-scoring advantage for Gustavus Adolphus College in a 78-71 victory over host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall.

Ryan McPartland (SO, Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson HS), another bench player, hit 7-of-8 from the field and scored 15 points with six rebounds for the Gusties (2-2 overall, 1-1 MIAC).

The Gusties overcame a double-double by Femi Solaja (SR, Cottage Grove, Minn./St. Paul Harding HS), who scored 19 points with 14 rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots for Augsburg (0-5 overall, 0-2 MIAC). The double-double was Solaja's sixth in his last 10 games for the Auggies dating to last season.

Jon Cassens (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) scored 16 points with seven assists and six rebounds for the Auggies, while Justin Kozlowski * (SR, Wausau, Wis/Wausau Newman HS) scored 11 points on three 3-pointers with six assists and two steals. Nate Alm (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) scored 10 points with three assists. Darren Nelson * (JR, Richfield, Minn.) scored eight points with three rebounds, five assists and two steals.

The teams traded leads four times in the first half, as Gustavus led 42-40. The Gusties pulled out to lead by 12 points, 67-55 with 8:35 left in the second half, but Augsburg used a 10-0 run over a four-minute span to trim the Gustie advantage to one point, 71-70, wiht 1:15 left. However, the Gusties outscored the Auggies 7-1 after that, with four points coming from Doble, including a slam dunk with six seconds left.

Jesse Van Sickle (SO, Garden City, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial HS) scored 13 points with seven rebounds for the Gusties, while Sam Paulson (SO, Waseca, Minn.) scored 12 points with six rebounds and three blocked shots. Gustavus outrebounded Augsburg by a 39-30 margin.

Gustavus returns to MIAC play on Monday (12/3) at 7:30 p.m., hosting Bethel. Augsburg is idle on Monday and returns to action on Wednesday (12/5) at 7:30 p.m., hosting St. Olaf at Si Melby Hall.
