MANKATO, Minn. (9/5/07) -- Julie Jenkins (Jr., Edina, Minn.) recorded seven kills, seven service aces, 12 assists and 10 digs, leading Augsburg College to a three-game sweep of Bethany Lutheran College in a nonconference volleyball match on Wednesday night at Bethany Lutheran.

Jenkins' performance was part of a balanced attack by the Auggies, now 2-3 on the season. Augsburg won the match by scores of 30-26, 30-27 and 30-13. Bethany Lutheran is also 2-3 on the year.

Five Auggies had six or more kills in the match, as the Auggies hit .228 (43 kills, 17 errors in 114 attempts) as a team. Breann Woelfel (So., Annandale, Minn.) claimed a team-high nine kills, while Laura Harms (Jr., Little Falls, Minn.) and Kristina Lurken (Jr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) recorded eight kills apiece, with Harms adding two blocks and Lurken adding five service aces. Melissa Larsen (Jr., Andover, Minn.) added six kills. Amanda Rueb (Jr., Plymouth, Minn./West Lutheran HS) had four kills and two blocks (one solo).

Shanna Reed (So., Eagan, Minn./Holy Angels HS) led the team with 20 assists, while Haley Bower (Sr., Brainerd, Minn.) had six service aces. Jessica Hilk (Fr., Waconia, Minn./Mayer Lutheran HS) had a team-high 16 digs.

Bethany Lutheran was led by Leslie Bremer, who had 14 kills and seven blocks (three solo). Emma Orth had eight kills and 16 digs, and Joelle Shouts had 29 assists and 11 digs.

Augsburg returns to action over the weekend, hosting the Augsburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday (9/7-8) at Si Melby Hall.
