ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Despite a career-high 17 points from
Brittany Zins (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS), the Augsburg College women's basketball team fell 89-61 to Hamline University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Monday night at Hutton Arena.
Augsburg (5-14 overall, 4-12 MIAC) was led by Zins and
Serenae Levine (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn.). Zins added eight rebounds, six offensive, and a blocked shot to her team-high 17 points. Levine had a solid night for the Auggies, posting 13 points, a game-high nine rebounds and six assists.
Casey Gintner (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) came off the bench to score a career-high seven points on 3-of-5 shooting from the floor.
Hamline (8-11 overall, 7-9 MIAC) was led by Mary Wilkowski and Kara Poirier, who finished with 26 and 21 points respectively. In the game, Wilkowski scored her 1,500th career point and became Hamline's all-time leading scorer in the process.
For the game, Augsburg shot 33.3 percent (23-of-69), while the Pipers connected on 47.6 percent (30-of-63) of their shots. Hamline finished with a 45-44 advantage on the boards and was able to connect on seven more three pointers than Augsburg. The Augsburg bench continues to play well, outscoring the Hamline bench 27-17.
Augsburg and Hamline both return to action on Wednesday (2/2) with Augsburg hosting St. Olaf and Hamline traveling to Gustavus.
