Auggies beat Knights in four

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Emily McCourt (SO, Sun Prairie, Wis.) recorded a match-high 43 assists to lead the Augsburg College volleyball team to a four-set win (25-17, 25-23, 21-25, 25-14) over Carleton College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening.

With the match tied at 7-7 early in the first set, Augsburg (11-6 overall, 5-2 MIAC) scored 18 of the set's final 28 points, including seven straight at one point to earn the victory. Both teams traded leads throughout the second set before Augsburg scored the final two points to break a 23-23 tie. After Carleton (13-8 overall, 3-4 MIAC) rallied to win the third set, the Auggies jumped out to an early lead an never looked back en route to a win in the fourth and final set of the match.

In addition to her 43 assists, McCourt recorded seven digs and one service ace in the match. The match markes the 14th time that McCourt has recorded 40 or more assists in a match during her career at Augsburg, including seven this season.

Tabby Roh (FY, La Crosse, Wis.) recorded a career-high 10 kills and a team-high four service aces to lead a balanced Augsburg offensive attack. 

Outside hitters Micha Sater (JR, Fridley, Minn./Centennial HS) and Colleen Ourada (SO, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) recorded 11 and nine kills respectively for Augsburg, while Jamila Lee (JR, Richfield, Minn.) recorded eight, including a team-high four blocks.

Augsburg defensive specialist Katelyn Berens (SO, Jordan, Minn./Prior Lake HS) led the Auggies with a season-high 26 digs in the match, while Ourada and Sater added 20 and 13 each.

Augsburg will step away from MIAC competition this weekend when it travels to Superior, Wis. to participate in the University of Wisconsin-Superior Invitational. Augsburg will play two games Friday evening followed by two more matches Saturday morning. The Auggies return to MIAC action on Friday, Oct. 21 with a home match against St. Olaf College. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will have a live video webcast available online.
