Volleyball clinches MIAC playoff berth

MINNEAPOLIS -- Colleen Ourada (SO, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) recorded a match-high 13 kills as the Augsburg College volleyball team completed a three-set sweep of St. Olaf (27-25, 25-15, 25-23) on Friday night at Si Melby Hall.

With the win tonight, coupled with St. Catherine's loss to Bethel, Augsburg (14-8, 6-2 MIAC) officially clinched a spot in the six-team MIAC postseason playoffs. The playoff berth marks the second time an Augsburg team has qualified for the MIAC postseason playoffs since the conference moved to its current six-team format in 2001.

Augsburg held a 10-5 match advantage over the Oles in blocks recorded, and held a 10-4 advantage in aces recorded during the match.

Ourada paced the Augsburg offensive attack again, as she hit .276 to go along with her match-high 13 kills. Ourada also recorded five digs and four blocks.

Micha Sater (JR, Fridley, Minn./Centennial HS) recorded 10 kills and nine digs for Augsburg, while Nikolene Miller (JR, Tomahawk, Wis.) had nine kills and four blocks for Augsburg while hitting .304 in the match.

Jamila Lee (JR, Richfield, Minn.) and Tabby Roh (FY, La Crosse, Wis./Central HS) each recorded five kills in the match, while Roh added a team-high five blocks. Emily McCourt (SO, Sun Prairie, Wis.) recorded a match-high 34 assists to go along with two service aces.

Katelyn Berens (SO, Jordan, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had 18 digs for Augsburg, while teammate Mackensie Menke (FY, Prior Lake, Minn./Shakopee HS) recorded eight digs and a team-best three service aces.

The Auggies will return to action on Saturday (10/22) at 5 p.m. with a matchup against MIAC rival and No. 11-ranked St. Thomas at Si Melby Hall.
