Auggies fall to Knights in four

BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS -- Tabby Roh (SO, LaCrosse, Wis./Central HS) and Nikolene Miller (SR, Tomahawk, Wis.) each claimed a team-best 13 kills, but the Augsburg College volleyball team dropped a four-set match (25-23, 25-15,18-25, 25-19) to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Carleton College on Wednesday evening at Si Melby Hall.

The loss drops the Auggies (11-10 overall, 2-4 MIAC) two matches under .500 in league play with five conference matches remaining. With the win, Carleton (16-6 overall, 5-2 MIAC) moves into a third-place tie with Concordia-Moorhead.

The Auggies looked strong early in the first set, leading by as many as seven late in the set, before the Knights closed with a 12-3 run to score the win. After Carleton won set two 25-15, the Auggies led wire-to-wire in the third set, en route to a 25-18 win. Both teams traded points early before Carleton won five out of the last seven points to pull out the 25-19 win and match victory.

In addition to her 13 kills, Roh hit .355 in the match and added six digs and two blocks, while Miller hit .300 and claimed a team-best three blocks (one solo). Micha Sater (SR, Fridley, Minn./Centennial HS) added 11 kills and hit .364, while Ashley Peper (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) chipped in seven kills and eight digs.

Augsburg setter Emily McCourt (JR, Sun Prairie, Wis.) claimed a team-best 43 assists and added 10 digs, while defensive specialist Emma Sievers (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) recorded a team-high 16 digs for Augsburg.

For Carleton, Sarah Nelson (SR, Altoona, Wis.) claimed a team-high 14 kills, while setter Alicia Flatt (SO, Walnut Creek, Calif./Carondelet HS) recorded a match-best 44 assists and added 13 digs.

Augsburg returns to action this Friday (10/12) with a home conference match against Macalester College. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall
