Volleyball falls to Royals in four

BOXSCORE MINNEAPOLIS -- Emily McCourt (JR, Sun Prairie, Wis.) claimed a team-high 35 assists and added 11 digs, but the Augsburg College volleyball team dropped a four-set match (25-12, 15-25, 25-20, 25-19) to Bethel University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening at Si Melby Hall.

After falling behind early in the match, Augsburg (11-8 overall, 2-3 MIAC) rallied to win the second set 25-15, and held an early 10-7 lead in the third set. After the Royals tied the score at 10-10, Bethel (12-8 overall,3-3 MIAC) went on a 10-4 run midway through the match to earn the 25-20 win. The Auggies fought back in the fourth set and trailed by one late at 18-17, but Bethel would put the game away for good en route to a 25-19 win and match victory.

Ashley Peper (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) claimed a team-high 14 kills and added 17 digs, while Micha Sater (SR, Fridley, Minn./Centennial HS) added 10 kills and four digs for Augsburg.

Jamila Lee (SR, Richfield, Minn.) added seven kills and two blocks, while Tabby Roh (SO, LaCrosse, Wis./Central HS) and Nikolene Miller (SR, Tomahawk, Wis.) added five kills each.

Defensive specialist Emma Sievers (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) recorded a team-high 20 digs, while Mackenzie Menke (SO. Prior Lake, Minn./Shakopee HS) added 19 digs.

The Auggies will return to action this Friday (10/5) with a non-conference match against Luther College at Si Melby Hall. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
