Auggies, Oles play scoreless draw

BOXSCORE NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- With the two teams combining for 24 shots, the Augsburg College and St. Olaf College women's soccer teams played to a 0-0, two-overtime tie in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Tuesday afternoon at St. Olaf's Rolf Mellby Field.

Katie Gajewski (JR, Wausau, Wis./Wausau East HS) and Lexi Felix (FY, Kailua, Hawaii/Iolani HS) combined for a shutout performance in goal for the Auggies. Gajewski played the first half and recorded three saves, while Felix had two saves in the second half and overtime for Augsburg (8-3-2 overall, 3-2-2 MIAC). Nora Forbes had eight saves in goal for St. Olaf (5-5-3 overall, 3-2-2 MIAC).

"Credit St Olaf, they made things difficult for us today. Nevertheless, we had our chances to win but once again have to settle for a tie," said Augsburg head coach Mike Navarre, whose team recorded its second straight tie in league play.

Augsburg outshot St. Olaf by a 14-10 margin, including a 12-6 advantage in the second half and overtime periods -- a 5-1 advantage in the 20 minutes of overtime.. Bri Clark (SR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) and Bri Dorale (SR, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) had four shots each for Augsburg.

Seven Auggies played all 110 minutes -- defenders Carly Reimer (SR, Eagan, Minn./Henry SIbley HS) and Alekzander Miller (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS), midfielders Dorale, Brittany Palmer (FY, Blaine, Minn.), Abi Rodstein (SO, Eagan, MInn.) and Molly Allen (SO, Stillwater, Minn.), and forward Clark.

Augsburg returns to MIAC play on Saturday (10/13) at 1 p.m. with a game at Gustavus.

"It's disappointing that we only have two points in our last two games. However, the MIAC is extremely competitive this year. Sooner or later some teams will have to gain some separation," Navarre said. "Obviously, that will be our objective moving forward as we begin preparing for another tough game on Saturday versus Gustavus."
