EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- The No. 17-ranked Augsburg College vollebyall team extended its winning streak to 19 with two sweeps on Saturday afternoon at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Auggies (23-2 overall) have now swept UW-Stout (13-11 overall) and UW-La Crosse (10-10 overall) twice this season and have won 19 matches by three-set sweep, including the last eight in a row and 17 times in their current 19-match winning streak.Â

Ashley Peper (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) had a monster match striking the ball for the Auggies with 17 kills while hitting .471. Peper led a balanced attack for the Auggies, with three other hitters recording more than six kills.
Colleen Ourada (SR, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) finished with seven kills, 10 digs, two aces and one solo block, while
Jessica Lillquist (SO, Sebeka, Minn./Sebeka HS) picked up eight kills as the most efficient Auggie attacker, hitting .615.
Taylor Trautman (FY, Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) hammered home six kills, added four blocks (one solo) and two digs.Â
Emily McCourt (SR, Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie HS) recorded a match-best 37 assists, six digs, two blocks and an assist in the three-set match.
Katelyn Berens (SR, Jordan, Minn./Prior Lake HS) has been one of the most consistent defensive specialists in the MIAC with a 5.24 digs per-set average, and contributed 18 digs, three services aces and an assist in Saturday's first victory.
Mackensie Menke (JR, Prior Lake, Minn./Shakopee HS) chipped in nine digs for the Auggies as well.Â
As a team the Auggies hit an impressive .333 with only eight attacking errors, while the Blue Devils were frustrated by Augsburg's defense and hit .158 with 14 attacking errors. Morgan Denny, Emily Crew, and Rachel Tschumperlin each contributed six kills, while Karley Wiensch dished out 24 assists.Â

The Auggie defense was not messing around in their second match of the day. After allowing a hitting percentage of .158 in the first match, the Auggies followed up that performance with 11 team blocks. The Eagles hit .170 in the three-set match with 16 errors.
Taylor Trautman (FY, Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) led the way for Augsburg's defense and blocked six UW-La Crosse attacks (two solo). Trautman added seven kills, while
Colleen Ourada (SR, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) finished with 11 kills, four digs and four blocks (two solo).
Augsburg was efficient offensively as well, hitting .323 with only nine attacking errors.Â
Ashley Peper (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) contributed 10 kills and eight digs, while
Jaelyn Arndt (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) recorded Augsburg's highest hitting percentage with .533 in her eight kills. Arndt also picked up two blocks in the match.Â
Emily McCourt (SR, Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie HS) dished out another match-best 35 assists with five digs, two blocks and one kill. McCourt is currently second in the MIAC with an average of 11.55 assists per-set, and only has 12 ball handling errors this season.Â
Defensive specialists
Katelyn Berens (SR, Jordan, Minn./Prior Lake HS)Â and
Mackensie Menke (JR, Prior Lake, Minn./Shakopee HS)Â continued their strong season, picking up 13 and 11 digs respectively to lead the Auggie backline.Â
UW-La Crosse was led by Crystal Ziegler, who finished with 12 kills, four digs and an ace. Cassie Raduka contributed 31 assists, six digs and a block, while Lauren Probst picked up 12 digs and six kills.Â
The Auggies return to MIAC play on Wednesday (10/16) when the play host to No. 3 St. Thomas at 7 p.m. on Ernie Anderson Court in Si Melby Hall.Â
