Augsburg falls to Gustavus

BOXSCORE ST. PETER, Minn. -- The Augsburg College men's basketball team fell 74-54 to Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Monday night at Gus Young Court. With the win, the Gusties move to 6-1 overall (3-0 MIAC), while the Auggies fall to 4-2 overall (1-2 MIAC).

Augsburg was led offensively by the duo of Dan Kornbaum (SR, Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls HS) and Andy Seidlitz (SR, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), who posted 16 points apiece. Kornbaum shot 6-of-12 from the field and added nine rebounds, three blocked shots and a pair of assists. Seidlitz shot 9-of-12 from the free-throw line and added three rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for the Auggies was Noah Veach (SR, Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven HS), who posted 10 points and five rebounds.

Gustavus was led offensively by Isaac Tapp (JR, Stewartville, Minn.,/Stewartville HS), who posted a game-high 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor.

For the game, Augsburg was held to a season-low 35.4 percent (17-of-48) from the floor, while Gustavus shot above 60 percent for the third time this season -- connecting on 60.4 percent (32-of-53) of its shots. The Gusties claimed a narrow 27-26 advantage on the boards, but Augsburg claimed the advantage at the free-throw line, hitting 18-of-24, while Gustavus converted on 6-of-9.

Augsburg and Gustavus both return to action on Wednesday (12/11) night. The Auggies make the long trip to Moorhead, Minn. to take part in a men's and women's doubleheader against Concordia College, while the Gusties also travel north, heading to Collegeville, Minn. to take on Saint John's University.
