Parker Hines (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS) scored a season-high 17 points to lead the Augsburg College men's basketball team to an 83-59 victory over Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall. With the win, the Auggies claim an important MIAC victory as they move to 12-6 overall (8-5 MIAC), while the Gusties fall to 12-6 overall (9-4 MIAC).
Hines finished 5-of-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from beyond the arc, while adding a game-high seven assists and three rebounds.
Andy Seidlitz (SR, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS),Â
Dan Kornbaum (SR, Little Falls, Minn.) and
Noah Veach (SR, Grand Haven, Mich.) also finished in double figures for the Auggies.
Seidlitz finished with a game-high 18 points, while Kornbaum nearly posted his fifth double-double of the season finishing with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Veach added 13 points and five rebounds for the Auggies, whileÂ
Brandon Little (SO, Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield HS) came off the bench to score six points on a 3-of-4 shooting effort.
Gustavus was led by the duo of Jordan Dick and Martin Fedderson, who scored 15 and 13 points respectively.
Augsburg started the game on a 15-3 run and never looked back as the Auggies were able to build a 45-23 lead at the half. Augsburg extended its lead to as many as 27 points in the second frame and cruised on to the 83-59 victory over the Gusties.
Augsburg has now shot over 50 percent from the field on 12 occassions this season. The Auggies finished 54.2 percent (32-of-59) from the field, while the Gusties connected on 44.2 percent (23-of-52) of their shots. Augsburg posted an impressive 43-24 advantage on the boards and dominated Gustavus in points in the paint (42-24) and second chance points (18-4).
Augsburg is idle this weekend and returns to MIAC play on Monday (2/3) at 7:45 p.m., when the Auggies host Concordia College Moorhead in a men's and women's doubleheader.
