Auggies sent to 5 sets, win over St. Catherine

MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 22-ranked Augsburg College volleyball team was sent to five sets by St. Catherine University, but prevailed with a 3-2 victory in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on Wednesday evening at Si Melby Hall. Augsburg claimed its 10th straight victory in the process.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After St. Catherine rallied to tie the match at two sets each, Augsburg dominated the fifth set, jumping out to an 11-2 lead en route to the win. Augsburg hit .625 in the final set, with 11 kills against just one error in 16 attack attempts.
• Ashley Peper (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) had a match-high 17 kills, hitting .231, while adding 12 digs and four blocks.
• Colleen Ourada (SR, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) also had a kill-dig double-double, with 16 kills, 12 digs and three blocks. She hit .292 on the evening.

• Middle hitters Jessica Lillquist (JR, Sebeka, Minn.) and Taylor Linn (FY, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) combined for 17 kills in the match, with Lillquist collecting 11 kills and three blocks, and Linn collecting six kills with five blocks (one solo). Linn hit a team-best .385 in the match, while Lillquist hit .360.
• Ellen Sachs (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) claimed 11 kills, hitting .333, with a block.
• Setter Courtney Lemke (SO, Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) claimed her 11th assist-dig double-double of the season, with 54 assists and 15 digs. She also had Augsburg's lone service ace of the match. Libero Mackensie Menke (SR, Prior Lake, Minn./Shakopee HS) had 15 digs in the match.
• As a team, Augsburg recorded 10 blocks compared to the Wildcats' four.
• Augsburg hit .266 in the match, while St. Catherine hit .213. There were 19 ties and eight lead changes in the match.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg remains in a tie for first place in the MIAC standings with St. Thomas entering the final weekend of the regular season. Augsburg and St. Thomas tied for the MIAC's regular-season title last season.

• Megan Lindenfelser (FY, Nowthen, Minn./Anoka HS) had 16 kills and five digs to lead the Wildcats, while Alyssa Besch (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) had 12 kills, six digs and two blocks.
• Abigail Palmer (SO, Pequot Lakes, Minn.) had nine kills, 14 digs and a block, and Jana Christensen (SR, North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) had eight kills and three blocks (one solo).

• Shanee Herd (SO, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) had a match-best 21 digs.
• Both St. Catherine setters had assist-dig double doubles, with Karsee Knutson (SR, New London, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) recording 34 assists and 10 digs, and Ashley Kahlow (SR, Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson HS) recording 15 assists and 10 digs.
