Auggies fall 5-1 to Cobbers in MIAC Showcase

BLAINE, Minn. -- Will Peterson (FY, Eagan, Minn.) scored his first collegiate goal for Augsburg College, but the Auggies dropped a 5-1 decision to Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Showcase men's hockey game on Saturday evening at the Schwan Super Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Peterson scored from Daniel Hildebrandt (SR, Monument, Colo./Pine Creek HS) at the 17:03 mark of the third period for the lone goal of the game for the Auggies.
• Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 36-24 margin in the game. Fredrik Melander (SO, Uppsala, Sweden/Trinity-Pawling Prep (N.Y.) HS) had 19 saves in goal for Augsburg.
• Mack Ohnsted (JR, Vernon Hills, Ill./Adali E. Stevenson HS) and Dylan Meier (SO, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista HS) had five shots each for Augsburg.

FOR THE FOES
• Jordan Christianson, Jon Grebosky and Garrett Hendrickson had a goal and assist each for Concordia. Jordie Bancroft and Cody Skilling also scored for the Cobbers.
• Zach Doerring and Charlie Aus had two assists each for the Cobbers.
• Jordyn Kaufer had 35 saves in goal for Concordia.

• Augsburg opens MIAC play next weekend with a series against Bethel. Augsburg will return to the Schwan Super Rink to face the Royals next Friday (11/7) at 7 p.m., and will host the Royals next Saturday (11/8) at 7:30 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
