Auggies fall to No. 10 UW-Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. -- Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) and Rachel Hennessy (SR, Williston, N.D.) scored goals for the Augsburg College women's hockey team, but the Auggies were not able to hang on as the No. 10-ranked University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets claimed a 8-2 victory on Saturday at Wessman Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After giving up the first three goals of the game, Augsburg scored back-to-back goals to pull the score to 3-2.
• Fuechtmann scored on an unassisted tally at the 4:40 mark of the second period, and Hennessy scored a power-play goal at the 11:21 mark of the second period off assists by Callen Naasz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) and Danielle Heitkamp (SO, Bismarck, N.D./Grand Rapids (Minn.) HS).
• The Auggies surrendered two power-play goals and one even strength goal in the second period and a pair of goals in the third.
• Brianna Schulz (SR, Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS), made her first start of the season in goal for the Auggies, recording 43 saves.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• UW-Superior outshot Augsburg by a 51-20 margin, including a 31-4 advantage in the first period. 
• After her two goal performance, Fuechtmann now has 18 goals in 49 career games.
• It was the second assist of the young season for Heitkamp, while it was the first for Naasz.


FOR THE FOES
• Hailey Adair (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored a pair of goals and added a pair of assists for the Yellowjackets.
• 11 different Yellowjackets figured into the scoring.
• Kim Kobar (SO, The Pas, Manitoba/Margaret Barbour Collegiate) had 18 saves in goal for the Yellowjackets.
