Naasz's 2 goals lead Auggies to win over St. Catherine

MINNEAPOLIS -- Callen Naasz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored two goals, including the eventual game-winning goal in the third period, as Augsburg College claimed a 3-2 win over St. Catherine University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Naasz opened the scoring on a breakaway, shorthanded goal at the 2:26 mark of the second period. She scored the go-ahead goal for the Auggies at the 14:12 mark of the third period, assisted by Claire Cripps (JR, Hutchinson, Minn.) and Ashley Kloncz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS).
• After St. Catherine took a 2-1 lead with two goals in a 1:25 span in the second period, Sarah Buckner (JR, Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) tied the game for the Auggies with her first collegiate goal, assisted by Kloncz and Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS).
• Erika Allen (JR, Roseville, Minn.) collected 31 saves in goal to pick up the win for Augsburg, improving to 2-2-2 on the season.
• Megan Robertson (FY, Boissevain, Manitoba) and Rachel Hennessy (SR, Williston, N.D.) had five shots on-goal each for the Auggies, while Naasz had four shots. 
• The Auggies claimed a 13-8 shots on-goal advantage in the first period, but were outshot 33-30 by St. Catherine in the game.


FOR THE FOES
• Zoe Verkerke opened the scoring for the Wildcats with a goal on a delayed penalty from Cassie Thomas and Maddy Zastrow at the 6:54 mark of the second period, followed 1:25 later by a power-play goal by Alex Pederson, assisted by Annie Buttermore and Karly Nelson.
• Samantha Geissler had 27 saves in goal for St. Catherine.
