Auggies complete sweep with 2-1 win at SCU

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Halie Gudmonson (SO, Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) and Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) scored second-period goals for Augsburg College, as the Auggies completed a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey sweep of St. Catherine University with a 2-1 win on Saturday afternoon at Drake Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Gudmonson, a transfer from Gustavus, opened the scoring with her first goal as an Auggie, scoring from Brenna Nakonechny (JR, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) and Savannah Seeger (SO, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) at the 5:46 mark of the second period. 
• Fuechtmann scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season at the 15:11 mark of the second period, scoring from Rachel Hennessy (SR, Williston, N.D.).
Erika Allen (JR, Roseville, Minn.) improved to 3-2-2 on the season in goal for the Auggies, stopping 13 of the 14 shots she faced. Augsburg outshot St. Catherine by a 21-14 margin.
• Fuechtmann had five shots on-goal for the Auggies, while Danielle Heitkamp (SO, Bismarck, N.D./Grand Rapids (Minn.) HS) had four shots and Gudmonson had three shots.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg claimed its third straight win -- the first time Augsburg has won three straight games since a three-game stretch from Jan. 5-11, 2013 (two wins over Finlandia and a win over Bethel). It's Augsburg's first three-game winning streak in MIAC play since a four-game streak from Jan. 20-Feb. 2, 2007.
• Fuechtmann scored her 20th career goal on Saturday, giving her 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points in 55 career games.
• Hennessy now has 61 career points (43 goals, 18 assists) in 83 career games.


FOR THE FOES
• Annie Buttermore scored an unassisted, power-play goal for St. Catherine at the 3:58 mark of the third period.
• Abbi White had 19 saves in goal for St. Catherine.


UP NEXT
• Augsburg faces Saint Benedict in a MIAC series on the weekend of Dec. 5-6. The Auggies host the Blazers on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, and face the Blazers at the St. Cloud (Minn.) Municipal Athletic Complex on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
