St. Benedict rallies for 3-2 win over Augsburg

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College held a 2-1 lead after two periods, but the College of Saint Benedict rallied with two goals in the third period to claim a 3-2 win over the host Auggies in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Callen Naasz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies, scoring from Claire Cripps (JR, Hutchinson, Minn.) at the 5:47 mark of the second period.
• Saint Benedict tied the game at 1-1 at the 12:57 mark of the second period, but Augsburg took the lead back just 22 seconds later, as Rachel Hennessy (SR, WIlliston, N.D.) scored from Megan Robertson (FY, Boissevain, Manitoba) and Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS).
• Saint Benedict outshot Augsburg by a 29-28 margin in the game.
• Hennessy had seven shots on-goal for the Auggies, while Ashley Kloncz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) had four shots. 
Brianna Schulz (SR, Prior Lake, Minn.) had 26 saves in goal for the Auggies.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg saw its three-game winning streak snapped with the loss.
• Augsburg outshot Saint Benedict by a 26-18 margin through the first two periods, but the Blazers had an 11-2 shots-on-goal advantage in the third period.
• Nassz now has seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 34 career games.
• Hennessy now has 62 career points (44 goals, 18 assists) in 84 career games. Her 44 goals are fourth-most in school history, while her 62 points are eighth-most.

• Siri Berg-Moberg had a goal and an assist for the Blazers, while Liz Hermes had two assists.
• Allison Kirk tied the game for the Blazers with a goal from Berg-Moberg and Hermes at the 12:57 mark of the second period.
• Berg-Moberg scored from Hermes at the 1:34 mark of the third period, and Aly Hoffman scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 14:07 mark, assisted by Tara Frey.
• Abbi White had 19 saves in goal for St. Catherine.
