Auggies fall 3-1 to UW-Eau Claire

MINNEAPOLIS -- Corbin Chapman (SO, Burnsville, Minn.) scored the lone goal of the game for Augsburg College in the second period, but the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire scored two goals to close out a 3-1 win in a nonconference men's hockey game on Saturday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Chapman tied the game at 1-1 with his third goal of the season, scoring from Mack Ohnsted (JR, Vernon Hills, Ill./Adali E. Stevenson HS) and Ben McClellan (SR, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS).
• Augsburg outshot UW-Eau Claire by a 26-24 margin, including a 12-4 advantage in the third period.
• Dylan Meier (SO, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista HS) had five shots on-goal for Augsburg, while Chapman and McClellan had four shots each. 
• Augsburg goalie John Bretzman (SR, Mendota Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) collected 21 saves.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• McClellan now has seven assists on the season, tied for third among MIAC players in overall statistics in assists. His 10 points this season are tied for sixth among MIAC players.
• Ohnsted now stands tied for fourth among MIAC players with 11 points (six goals, five assists).


FOR THE FOES
• Ross Andersen scored two goals for UW-Eau Claire -- the opening goal at the 15:54 mark of the first period, assisted by Patrick Moore and Adam Knochenmus, and the final goal of the game at the 4:33 mark of the third period, assisted by Knochenmus and Moore.
• Ethan Nauman scored the go-ahead goal for the Blugolds at the 15:47 mark of the second period, assisted by Todd Koritzinsky and David Henry.
• Tyler Green had 25 saves in goal for UW-Eau Claire.
