Orth has career day as Augsburg tops Pomona-Pitzer 67-50

CLAREMONT, Calif.. -- Jenna Orth (JR, Melrose, Minn./Melrose HS) scored 15 points and added four assists to lead Augsburg College in a 67-50 victory over Ponoma Pitzer in nonconference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Augsburg women's basketball team used a key 15-4 run during the middle of the first half to extend its lead to double-digits, a lead the Auggies would never relinquish. Augsburg led by as many as 22 in second half before cruising on to the 67-50 victory.
• The Auggies had their best offensive performance of their California road trip, connecting on 44.3 percent (27-of-61) from the field and 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from 3-point range.
• Orth scored her career-high 15 points on a 7-of-9 shooting performance, while adding four assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals. Orth continues to lead the Auggies in steals, posting 26 on the young season.
• Abbey Luger (SR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) led the Auggies on the boards, pulling down seven rebounds while adding eight points and a pair of steals. 
• Also scoring in double figures for the Auggies was Bridget Bednar (FY, Pierz, Minn./Pierz HS), who posted 12 points on a 6-of-9 shooting afternoon. 
• The Auggies forced 23 turnovers, while picking up 14 steals. Augsburg committed a season-low eigth turnovers.


FOR THE FOES
• Ponoma finished with three players in double figures, led by Basha Brulee-Wills, who scored 12 points and recorded eight rebounds.
• Ponoma Pitzer shot 37.8 percent (14-of-37) from the field and was able to claim a 32-31 advantage on the boards.
