Auggies edged 3-2 by Concordia-Wisconsin

MINNEAPOLIS -- Ashley Kloncz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) and Claire Cripps (JR, Hutchinson, Minn.) scored goals for Augsburg College, but the Auggies fell short in a 3-2 loss to Concordia University-Wisconsin in a nonconference women's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Kloncz opened the scoring for the Auggies with a goal 2:38 into the game, assisted by Callen Naasz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) and Cripps.
• Cripps scored from Kloncz on the power play at the 13:24 mark of the third period, tying the game at 2-2.
• Kloncz had eight shots to lead the Auggies, as did Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS). Cripps and Danielle Heitkamp (SO, Bismarck, N.D./Grand Rapids (Minn.) HS) had five shots each.
• Erika Allen (JR, Roseville, Minn.) had 23 saves in goal for the Auggies.

• Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 33-26 margin in the game.

FOR THE FOES
• Brittany Sticha (SO, Lonsdale, Minn./New Prague HS) evened the game at 1-1 for Concordia, assisted by Katherine Pauletti (JR, Roseville, Minn.) and Brandi Muller (SO, Anchorage, Alaska). 
• Lexi Holman (FY, Cold Spring, Minn.) scored an unassisted goal midway through the second period to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.
• Baylee Darling (SO, Holmen, Wis./Onalaska HS) scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Falcons, assisted by Veronika Metanova (SO, Palatine, Ill.) and Alexis Machuga (JR, Rochester Hills, Mich.), at the 16:47 mark of the third period.
• Bridget Slater (SO, Roseau, Minn.) had 31 saves in goal for the Falcons.

• Augsburg opens MIAC play with a series against Bethel next weekend. Augsburg hosts Bethel next Friday (11/14) at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, and face the Royals next Saturday (11/15) at 4 p.m. at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.
