Auggies fall to Tommies on cold shooting afternoon

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College men's basketball team had a cold shooting afternoon and fell 57-40 to the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Despite holding St. Thomas to a season-low in points and field goal percentage, the Auggies struggled to find their offensive rhythm and couldn't overcome a deep and talented St. Thomas team.
• Augsburg was led offensively by Parker Hines (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS), who finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots.
• Ryan Gilmer (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) led the Auggies on the boards, tying his season-high with nine rebounds, while adding a steal.
• Brandon Little (JR, Broomfield, Colo./Broomfield HS) finished with eight points on a 3-of-5 shooting afternoon, while adding a pair of assists.
• For the game, Augsburg shot a season-low 31.4 percent (16-of-51) from the field and were only able to connect on 3-of-11 from the free-throw line.


FOR THE FOES
• St. Thomas finished with three players in double figures led by Ryan Saarela, who posted an 11-point, 16-rebound double-double.
• For the game, the Tommies shot 37.9 percent (22-of-58) from the field and just 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from three-point range.

• Augsburg is off until Jan. 7, when the Auggies travel to St. Peter, Minn. to take on Gustavus Adolphus College in a key MIAC match-up.
