2014 NSCAA/CONTINENTAL TIRE DIVISION III WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS

8539MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College women's soccer midfielder Molly Allen (SR, Stillwater, Minn.) was named to the 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire Division III All-America team as a third-team recipient, it was announced on Friday.

Allen is the first Augsburg women's soccer player to ever earn NSCAA Division III All-America honors in the 30-season history of the program. The honor completes a year of accolades for Allen, who was named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team and the NSCAA All-North Region first team. She also earned All-MIAC and NSCAA All-North Region honors in 2012.

Allen finished the season as the top assist performer in the MIAC, leading the conference's overall statistics with a single-season school-record 15 assists, including an MIAC-leading nine assists in league games. Among NCAA Division III players nationally, Allen is currently tied for ninth in assists per-game (0.67).  Adding three goals, she finished the season with a career-best 21 points. Two of her goals were game-winners, in a 1-0 win at Gustavus on Oct. 25 and in the conference playoff championship game, a 1-0 triumph over Concordia-Moorhead on Oct. 8. She had a goal or assist in 13 of her 21 games this season (1,628 minutes played).

In her 78 career games (76 starts), Allen set Augsburg's school record for career assists with 38, and with four goals (two game-winners), her 46 career points are 11th-most in school history.

Allen was one of two MIAC players to earn All-America honors from the NSCAA; Concordia-Moorhead senior defender Libby Fransdal was also a third-team selection.

Under 16th-year head coach Mike Navarre, Augsburg claimed its first-ever MIAC regular-season and playoff titles in 2014, finishing with school records for wins in both overall (17-5-0) and MIAC (9-2-0) play. Augsburg claimed its sixth appearance in the MIAC postseason playoffs and second championship game in the past three seasons. Augsburg's berth in the NCAA Division III national tournament, reaching the second round, was also its first in the history of the program.
