Jenna Orth (SO, Melrose, Minn./Melrose HS) posted her second career double-double as she lead the Augsburg College women's basketball team in a hard fought 70-64 loss to league-leading Saint Mary's in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at SMU's Field House.
With the win, Saint Mary's (23-2 overall, 20-2 MIAC) clinched its first MIAC Championship since 1985-86, while Augsburg (12-13 overall, 9-13 MIAC) posted its second 10-or-more win season in Head Coach
Bill McKee's three years at the helm of the Auggie program. This marks the first time the Auggies have posted two 10-win seasons in a three-year time frame since the mid-1980's. McKee has a 35-39 overall record as coach of the Auggies, which ranks him third all-time on the Augsburg coaching list for number of victories.
The Auggies, who have gone toe-to-toe with St. Mary's in their last four meetings, were within two points (66-64) with just 57 seconds to play but the Auggies were not able to convert on their final two opportunities while the Cardinals were able to hit 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final 30-seconds to seal the victory for SMU.
Orth finished her season on a strong note, posting double-doubles in her final two games. She finished the afternoon with 13 points and 10 rebounds, recording her second career double-double in the effort.
Jill Tichy (SR, Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka HS) led the Auggies offensively, scoring a team-high 17 points, while adding three rebounds.

Jessica Lillquist (SO, Sebeka, Minn./Sebeka HS) andÂ
Abbey Luger (JR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS). Lillquist recorded 15 points -- her fourth consecutive game in double figures -- on 7-of-12 shooting while adding four rebounds. Luger added 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
Saint Mary's was led by Courtney Euerle, who finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
For the game, Augsburg shot 44.6 percent (25-of-56) from the field, while Saint Mary's converted on 40.9 percent (27-of-66) of its shots. The two teams posted an identitical 42 rebounds but Augsburg struggled at the free throw line, connecting on just 10-of-20 and committed 15 turnovers to the Cardinals six.
