Augsburg outshot Luther by a 14-13 margin, but Luther had nine corner kicks to Augsburg's four. Nick Lenertz (SO, Newport, Minn./Park HS) had six saves in goal for Augsburg.BEYOND THE BOXSCORE• Griffin notched his first goal of the season with the game-tying effort for the Auggies. It's his sixth goal in 39 career games.• Kohl had four shots, including three on-goal, to lead the Auggies. Henry, Edi Becerra (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Minneapolis Southwest HS) and Aniekan Akpan (JR, Maple Grove, Minn.) had two shots each.
• Henry now has 15 points (six goals, three assists) in 21 career games, while Kohl has six points (one goal, four assists) in 20 career games.FOR THE FOES• Peter Wright (SR, West St. Paul, Minn./Mounds Park Academy) had three saves in the first half for Luther, while Tommy Breen (JR, Cary, Ill./Grove HS) had two saves in the second half.
• JW Slauson (SR, San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan HS) had four shots for the Norse, with Gednalske and Clay Walker (SR, Iowa City, Iowa/West HS) claiming two shots each.QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH GREG HOLKER• "That's a punch in the gut, no way to hide it. To give up a quick breakaway after giving away the ball the way we did was tough to watch. Credit to Jon (Gednalske) for finishing it because Bobby (Kohl) was doing everything he could to make it uncomfortable."
• "On a brighter note, we were much better in the second half than we have been all year. The guys showed a real determination and desire to get this result. Tommy Breen made two big-time saves to keep it at 1-1, and we missed our breakaway chance. It was a step in the right direction for us, even though it doesn't feel like it. The psychology of being 0-3 is tough, but we play a schedule that requires these young men to grow through adversity. How they respond will define who they will become. That's my favorite part of what we do here."
• "I have to note Jason Scheeler's (FY, Blaine, Minn.) performance and recognize him for it, because it was top-class. Bobby Kohl and Barinedum Kordah (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) are making progress as well as a pair in the back, and Aniekan (Akpan) has just been completely checked-in and extremely effective for us up top."
• We have a day to recover and then get back at it when we host a Minnesota-Morris team that hasn't played since Aug. 30. This grind will help us significantly in the long run."UP NEXT• Augsburg hosts Minnesota-Morris on Friday (9/5) at 7 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field.• Luther travels to face Waldorf (Iowa) on Saturday (9/6) at 7 p.m.
