Auggies fall 5-0 to No. 6-ranked Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. -- The Augsburg College women's hockey team returned to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday night, but dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 6-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College at the Don Roberts Ice Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Gustavus outshot Augsburg by a 38-10 margin in the game.
• Erika Allen (JR, Roseville, Minn.) collected 33 saves in goal for the Auggies, her fifth game with 30-plus saves this season.
• Augsburg saw a five-game stretch of not allowing a power-play goal snapped in the loss, as the Gusties went 1-for-2 on the power play. Augsburg was 0-for-3 in its power-play opportunities.
• Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had three shots on-goal for the Auggies, while Callen Naasz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) had two shots.

• Despite the loss, Augsburg has recorded six wins in its last nine games.
• Augsburg's 86.5-percent penalty-kill rate (45-of-52) stands fifth among MIAC teams in overall statistics.


FOR THE FOES
• Carolyn Draayer scored two goals in a 1:46 span late in the third period, both assisted by Allison Eder-Zdechlik. Draayer added an assist for a three-point night, while Eder-Zdechlik added a shorthanded goal for her three-point night.
• Marissa Brandt scored for the Gusties late in the first period, while Katie Aney had a power-play goal in the second period.
• Lindsey Hibbard stopped all 10 shots she faced in goal for the Gusties.
• Gustavus is ranked No. 6 in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Division III national poll and No. 7 in the latest D3hockey.com national poll.
