Bench scoring crucial in Auggie win over Cobbers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Coming off the bench, Collin Olmscheid (FY, Buffalo, Minn.) scored 15 points and Richie Perea (SO, Colorado Springs, Colo./Wasson HS) scored 12 points, leading Augsburg College in a 62-55 win over Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Olmscheid and Perea led an Auggie bench that outscored the team's starters by a 32-30 margin in the game.
• Olmscheid scored 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-5 from three-point range, and pulled down five rebounds in 25 minutes of play.
• Perea, who was pressed into service when starting point guard Parker Hines (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS) fell into foul trouble, matched his career high by scoring 12 points on 4-of-6 from the field, including 2-of-2 from three-point range, adding an assist in 27 minutes of play.
• The game was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team leading by more than seven points. There were 17 lead changes and four ties in the contest.
• Leading 52-48 with 6:19 remaining, Augsburg built the lead back up to seven points, capped on a three-pointer by Perea, who scored seven of Augsburg's final nine points in the game.
• Augsburg connected on 48.0 percent (24-of-50) from the field, including a 56.5-percent (13-of-23) effort in the second half. Concordia shot 38.3 percent (23-of-60) from the field.
• Joe Zangel (JR, Richfield, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) scored eight points for the Auggies, while Brett Rasmussen (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) scored seven points with six rebounds.
• Parker Hines (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS) scored six points with three assists and two steals before fouling out, and Brandon Little (JR, Broomfield, Colo.) had eight rebounds.

• Jordan Bolger led all players with a 21-point, 10-rebound effort for Concordia.
• Tom Fraase scored 11 points with six rebounds, and Scott Flotterud scored nine points with six rebounds.
