Lillquist, Luger lead Auggies in win over Cobbers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Jessica Lillquist (JR, Sebeka, Minn.) scored 18 points with five rebounds and five assists, and Abbey Luger (SR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) scored 17 points with six rebounds and six assists, leading Augsburg College in a 59-50 victory over Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg used an early 8-0 run to take a 12-4 lead midway through the first half, but Concordia used rallied back to take a 23-19 lead late in the opening stanza. But Augsburg scored the final 12 points of the half to take a 31-23 lead into the locker room.
• Augsburg built as much as a 15-point lead in the second half, before Concordia trimmed the advantage to four points, 52-48 with 5:49 left to play. But jumpers by Bridget Bednar (FY, Pierz, Minn.) and Lillquist gave the Auggies an eight-point cushion at 56-48 with 2:18 left.
• Augsburg connected on 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the field, while Concordia hit 38.2 percent (21-of-55). Concordia outrebounded Augsburg by a 37-34 margin.
• Augsburg forced 20 Concordia turnovers, converting them into 13 points. Concordia scored 18 points off of 14 Augsburg turnovers.
• Bednar scored eight points with five rebounds and two steals for the Auggies.
• Luger added two steals to her 17-point total, while Lillquist had three blocked shots.
• Jenna Orth (JR, Melrose, Minn.) scored four points with three assists, three rebounds and four steals.


FOR THE FOES
• Alley Fisher scored 18 points with four assists, two blocks, a steal and four rebounds.
• Mikayla Forness scored eight points for the Cobbers, while Olivia Johnson had seven points, six rebounds and three assists.
