Lillquist, Bednar post double-doubles in Auggie victory

MINNEAPOLIS -- Jessica Lillquist (JR, Sebeka, Minn.) scored 18 points with 10 rebounds, and Bridget Bednar (FY, Pierz, Minn.) scored 11 points with a career-high 10 rebounds, leading Augsburg College in a 52-49 victory over Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on Wednesday evening at Hutton Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Lillquist posted her second double-double of the season with an 18-point, 10-rebound effort to lead the Auggies offensively.
• Bednar posted her first career double-double with an 11-point, 10-rebound effort, while adding three assists, a block and a steal.
• The last time Augsburg had two players post double-doubles on the same night was Nov. 22, 2011 when Serenae Levine and Brittnay Dyshaw both posted double-doubles in a 70-46 win over North Central (Minn.).
• Abbey Luger (SR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) also finished in double figures for the Auggies, posting 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Jenna Orth (JR, Melrose, Minn.) posted a game-high six assists, while adding eight boards, four points and three steals.
• In a game that featured eight tied scores and nine lead changes, Augsburg was able to score the final five points of the contest to claim the important MIAC victory.
• Augsburg connected on 41.7 percent (20-of-48) from the field, while Hamline hit just 28.6 percent (16-of-56).
• Augsburg claimed a 42-33 advantage on the boards.
• Augsburg claimed a 26-14 advantage in points in the paint.


FOR THE FOES
• Jordan Sammons scored a team-high 15 points and eigth rebounds, while adding a pair of assists and steals.
• Chloe Graves also finished in double figures for the Pipers, finishing with 10 points and three assits.
