Auggies edged by Carleton in OT

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Parker Hines (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS) led the Auggies with 16 points but it wasn't enough as the Augsburg College men's basketball team was edged 71-65 in overtime in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday evening at West Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg rallied from a 55-44 deficit with just 3:11 remaining in the second half with an 11-0 run to tie things up with just 1:36 remaining in the action. The two teams traded free throws but Hines was able to hit 2-of-2 with just 12 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. The Auggies grabbed the opening bucket of the overtime session but were outscored 9-1 down the stretch as the Knights claimed the important conference win.
• Hines led the Auggies offensively, finishing with 16 points, including an 8-of-9 performance at the free throw line, while adding a team-high five assists, five rebounds and a pair of steals.
• Brett Rasmussen (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) also finished in double figures for Augsburg, putting up 15 points, while adding five rebounds and an assist.
• Ryan Gilmer (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) led the Auggies on the boards, pulling down eight rebounds, while adding five points.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the field, while Carleton connected on 47.5 percent (28-of-59) of its shots.

• Augsburg was able to outscore the Knights 14-7 in points off turnovers.
• Carleton claimed a 39-32 advantage on the boards.

FOR THE FOES
• Carleton finished with five players in double figures led by Kevin Grow, who posted a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double.
