Balanced scoring attack leads Auggies to 62-43 victory

MINNEAPOLIS -- Jessica Lillquist (JR, Sebeka, Minn./Sebeka HS) led the Augsburg College women's basketball team with her 10th double digit scoring campaign of the season in a 62-43 victory over Carleton College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on Wednesday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies recorded their second best shooting performance of the season, connecting on an impressive 63.2 percent (12-of-19) in the second half on their way to their 10th victory of the season.
• Lillquist led the Ausburg offense with 12 points on a 5-of-11 shooting night. She added five rebounds and tied a season-best with five assists.
Bridget Bednar (FY, Pierz, Minn./Pierz HS) also finished in double figures for the Auggies. She posted 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting, while adding three rebounds, a steal and an assist.
Abbey Luger (SR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) led all players with a game-high six assists, while adding eight points, three boards and three steals. 
Jenna Orth (JR, Melrose, Minn.) anchored the Auggie defense, claiming a game-high four steals, while adding nine points, six rebounds and four assists.

• For the game, Augsburg shot 51.1 percent (24-of-47) from the field, while Carleton connected on 34.1 percent (15-of-44) of its shot attempts.
• The two teams finished with an identitical 30 rebounds.
• The Auggies forced 22 turnovers on the night, picking up 12 steals in the process.
• Augsburg claimed a 32-18 advantage in points in the paint and a 28-11 advantage in points off turnovers.


FOR THE FOES
• Skylar Tsutsui led the Knights with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor. 
• Nnenna Ezem came off the bench to lead Carleton on the boards, pulling down a game-high nine rebounds, while adding eight points and a blocked shot.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the win, head coach Bill McKee passes Lauri Ludeman (1996-03) and moves into second all-time for number of coaching victories (45) in Augsburg women's basketball history. McKee joins Marilyn Pearson Florian (1980-85) as only the second Augsburg women's basketball coach to record three double digit win campaigns.
