Auggies edged in closing minutes by Pointers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Lucas Hendrickson (JR, Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) scored a power-play goal for Augsburg College, but the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point responded with two goals, including a goal with 1:46 left in the third period, claiming a 2-1 win over the host Auggies in a nonconference men's hockey game on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

• Hendrickson gave the Auggies a 1-0 lead with his third goal of the season and second power-play goal, scoring from Ben McClellan (SR, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and Evan Hesse (FY, Monticello, Minn./Parker (Alaska) HS), at the 13:17 mark of the first period.
• UW-Stevens Point outshot Augsburg by a 46-26 margin, including a 34-13 advantage in the final two periods.
• Augsburg goalie Fredrik Melander (SO, Uppsala, Sweden/Trinity-Pawling Prep (N.Y.) HS) had a season-high 44 saves, his first 40-plus-save effort in an Augsburg uniform.

• Hesse had six shots on-goal for Augsburg, while Mack Ohnsted (JR, Vernon Hills, Ill./Adali E. Stevenson HS) had three shots.
