Auggies edged 2-1 by Loras

MINNEAPOLIS -- Marie Fitzgerald (SR, Fort Atkinson, Wis.) scored the lone goal of the game for Augsburg College in the 16th minute, but two Loras College goals in a 6:37 span in the second half gave the Duhawks a 2-1 win over the host Auggies in a nonconference women's soccer game on Monday evening at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Fitzgerald scored her team-high eighth goal of the season at the 15:48 mark, sending a blast to the net off a pass from Abby Enrici (SO, Huntley, Ill.) following a shot by Jane Koch (FY, Burnsville, Minn.).
• Augsburg claimed a 14-11 advantage in shots and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. 
• Fitzgerald had four shots in the game, while Koch and Carter Denison (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) had three shots each.
• Marissa Guillou (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had three saves in goal for the Auggies.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The loss snapped a 13-game home winning streak for the Auggies. Augsburg's last loss at Edor Nelson Field was a 2-1 setback to Carleton on Oct. 11, 2014
• Fitzgerald is now tied for tops in goals scored among MIAC players in overall statistics, while her 25 points are a conference-best. She is also tied with teammate Marta Anderson (JR, Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) for the lead among MIAC players in overall assists with nine.

FOR THE FOES
• Gretchen Schutz had a goal and assist for Loras. She scored an unassisted goal at the 58:08 mark, and her throw-in led to a header goal by Madie Avery at the 64:45 mark, putting the Duhawks in front.
• Michelle Loyo had four saves in goal for Loras.
