Auggie volleyball claims sweep of Scots

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg College volleyball team got back on track Saturday by sweeping Macalester in straight sets in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Auggies were paced by Ashley (SR, Bloomington, Minn/Jefferson HS), who led all players with 13 kills and a .407 hitting percentage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies picked their second conference win with a team attack percentage of .303 and only 10 attack errors, compared to Macalester's .026 and 24 errors. 
• Augsburg also added six service aces and eight blocks, compared to the Scots' two aces and two blocks.
Taylor Linn (SO, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) recorded seven kills for the Auggies with four blocks, two service aces and an assist.
• Peper added four digs and a block, while Jaelyn Arndt (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) and Jessica Lillquist (SR, Sebeka, Minn.) each finished with five kills and two blocks. Lillqust recorded a hitting percentage of .364 with only one attack error.
• Jordan Weeding (SO, Greenfield, Minn./Rockford HS) added four kills, three digs and three blocks.

Macey Terhell (FY, Osceola, Wis.) and DeeDee Maier (JR, Middleton, Wis.) led the Auggie defense with 16 and 13 digs respectively. Maier added two aces, while Terhell recorded one.
• Morgan Malley (FY, Harmony, MInn./Fillmore Central HS) recorded 20 assists and 10 digs, while Hannah Gibbemeyer finished with 14 assists and two digs. 

FOR THE FOES
• India Medaris recorded eight kills, Regan Fruh finished with six, and Clara Baumann and Brooke Hunter each tallied five.  
• Cora Trout dished out 14 assists, while Kasey McMaster finished with nine. 

UP NEXT
• Augsburg travels to St. Paul, Minn. on Wednesday (10/7) for a conference match against St. Catherine at 7 p.m. 
• Macalester will also travel to St. Paul, Minn. for a conference match against Hamline on Saturday (10/10) at 3 p.m.
