Auggies drop 3-1 nonconference decision at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Christian Metzger (FY, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) scored the lone goal of the game for Augsburg College, but host Wartburg College built a 3-0 lead en route to a 3-1 win in a nonconference men's soccer game on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Metzger scored his second goal of the season for the Auggies in the 84th minute, on assists by Jason Scheeler (SO, Blaine, Minn.) and Aaron Wylie (SR, Des Moines, Iowa/Lincoln HS).
• Wartburg outshot Augsburg by a 31-6 margin in the game, including a 14-3 advantage on shots on-goal. Scheeler had two shots for the Auggies.
• Tommy Molski (SO, Woodbury, Minn./North St. Paul HS) had nine saves in goal for Augsburg.

FOR THE FOES
• Ben Johnson, Jonah Waldron and Zubeen Azari scored goals for Wartburg, Johnson's goal in the 29th minute, Waldron's in the 44th minute and Azari's in the 64th minute.
• Austin Boyke had two saves in 76 minutes in goal for the Knights, with Gunnar Lenzen finishing the last 14 minutes in relief.
