Auggies fall 4-3 in OT at UW-Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. -- Nate Flynn (SO, Hastings, Minn.) scored a goal and added an assist for Augsburg College, but the Auggies dropped a 4-3 overtime decision at the University of Wisconsin-Superior in a nonconference men's hockey game on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Flynn, Mack Ohnsted (SR, Vernon Hills, Ill./Adali E. Stevenson HS) and Eric Brenk (FY, Moorhead, Minn.) scored for Augsburg in the game. Augsburg held a 3-2 lead after two periods, but UW-Superior tied the game in the third period, then scored the game-winner 1:30 into overtime.
• Ohnsted scored his first goal of the season at the 19:06 mark of the first period, a power-play goal from Flynn and Corbin Chapman (JR, Burnsville, Minn.)
• Augsburg scored twice in a 2:26 span late in the second period. Brenk scored from Chris Nuth (JR, Trabuco Canyon, Calif./Mission Viejo HS) at the 17:03 mark, and Flynn scored his fifth goal of the season at the 19:29 mark, scoring from Eli May (SO, Eagan, Minn.).
• Chapman and Eric Brenk (FY, Moorhead, Minn.) had five shots on-goal each, while Ohnsted and Luke Dietsch (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) had four shots each.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Superior by a 37-28 margin in the game. The Auggies were only able to convert on 1-of-5 power-play opportunities, compared to 1-of-3 for the Yellowjackets.
• Brandon Jones (SR, Fridley, Minn./Spring Lake Park HS) had 24 saves in goal for the Auggies. 

FOR THE FOES
• Ian Ecklund had a goal and two assists for UW-Superior. Daniel Litchke had three assists for the Yellowjackets.
• Anton Svensson scored the first and last goals of the game for the Yellowjackets, with the overtime game-winner coming from Ecklund and Litchke.
• Viktor Sallhag tied the game for the Yellowjackets with a power-play goal at the 12:38 mark of the third period.
• Cory Simons had 34 saves in goal for UW-Superior.
