Auggies edged by No. 8-ranked Blugolds

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Eli May (SO, Eagan, Minn.) scored both goals for Augsburg College, but the No. 8-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire claimed a 3-2 win over the Auggies in a nonconference men's hockey game on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• May scored both goals for Augsburg -- the first coming from Corbin Chapman (JR, Burnsville, Minn.) and Rory Vesel (JR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) at the 15:52 mark of the first period, and the second a power-play goal from Vesel at the 13:55 mark of the second period.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Eau Claire by a 33-26 margin in the game, including a 20-7 advantage in the third period.
• Chapman, Nate Flynn (SO, Hastings, Minn.) and Eric Brenk (FY, Moorhead, Minn.) had four shots on-goal each for the Auggies, while May and Drew Anderson (SO, Rochester, Minn./Century HS) had three shots each.
• Jordyn Kaufer (SO, Stillwater, Minn.) had 23 saves in goal for the Auggies. 

FOR THE FOES
• David Henry had a goal and an assist for UW-Eau Claire, including the eventual game-winning goal 44 seconds into the third period, assisted by Adam Knochenmus.
• Mac Jansen opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 2:06 mark of the first period, and Garret Clemment scored from Henry and Jeffrey Pauluk at the 2:16 mark of the second period.
• Jay Deo had 31 saves in goal for UW-Eau Claire.
