Augsburg College women's basketball team gave up a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession and fell 49-48 in nonconference action on Friday evening at the University of Wisconsin River Falls.THE BASICSFINAL SCORE: UW-River Falls 49, Augsburg 48

HOW IT HAPPENED• Augsburg was able outshoot the Falcons 40.9 percent (18-of-44) to 38.0 percent (19-of-50), outrebound the Falcons 31-26 and forced 22 turnovers, while only committing 20 but unfortunately, UW-River Falls was able to hit the shot that mattered -- a 3-pointer by Brynn Liljander with six seconds left to give the Falcons a 49-48 lead. Augsburg's Marie Fitzgerald (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson HS) had a look at a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining but wasn't able to make it fall.
• Augsburg was led offensively by Bridget Bednar (SO, Pierz, Minn./Pierz HS), who scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor.
• Maria Loughlin (SR, Rogers, Minn.) also finished with 13 points the Auggies, finishing 2-of-3 from three-point range, while pulling down four rebounds.
• Fitzgerald led Augsburg on the boards, grabbing a team-best seven rebounds on the day, while adding three points.• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was
Jessica Lillquist (Sebeka, Minn./Sebeka HS), who finished with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.
FOR THE FOES• UW-River Falls was led offensively by Katie Messman, who finihsed with 14 points, on 6-of-11 shooting.
