4-goal outburst gives Auggies 5-2 win over Pipers

MINNEAPOLIS -- A four-goal outburst in a 6:04 span in the third period enabled Augsburg College to rally from a 2-1 deficit, scoring a 5-2 victory over visiting Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Danielle Heitkamp (SO, Bismarck, N.D./Grand Rapids (Minn.) HS) had a goal and assist for the Auggies, while Rachel Hennessy (SR, Williston, N.D.), Kayla Fuechtmann (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS), Ashley Kloncz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) and Brenna Nakonechny (JR, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) scored the Auggies' third-period goals.
• Hennessy tied the game at 2-2 for the Auggies with a power-play goal from Heitkamp at the 7:58 mark of the third period, and Fuechtmann followed 25 seconds later with her team-leading ninth goal of the season, assisted by Callen Naasz (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) and Sarah Buckner (JR, Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS).
• Kloncz gave the Auggies a 4-2 lead on a goal assisted by Darby Lindgren (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) at the 12:34 mark of the final frame, followed 88 seconds later by Nakonechny's first goal of the season, assisted by Claire Cripps (JR, Hutchinson, Minn.).
• Heitkamp scored the opening goal of the game for Augsburg, her first goal of the season, at the 3:16 mark of the second period, assisted by Cripps.
• Augsburg outshot Hamline by a 30-16 margin, including an 18-7 margin in the frenetic third period.
• Erika Allen (JR, Roseville, Minn.) had 14 saves in goal to pick up the victory for the Auggies.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg remains in the hunt for a spot in the five-team MIAC posteason playoffs. With three conference games remaining in the regular season, Augsburg sits in sixth place with 14 league points, just a point behind fifth-place Bethel's 15 points.
• Fuechtmann's nine goals this season are tied for fourth-most among MIAC players in overall statistics. 
• Kloncz's team-high 13 points (four goals, nine assists) put her tied for 17th among MIAC players in points. Her nine assists are tied with teammate Cripps for the team lead, and both are tied for 10th among MIAC players in overall assists.

• Kelsey Rafferty tied the game at 1-1 for Hamline with a goal at the 14:46 mark of the second period, assisted by Jenny Magill.
• Jaci Reinke scored a power-play goal at the 3:54 mark of the third period, also assisted by Magill.
• Mary Shefveland had 25
 saves in goal for Hamline.
