Zangel leads Auggies to victory over Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Joe Zangel (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) led the Augsburg College men's basketball team, as the Auggies posted a 56-45 victory over Macalester College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening at the Leonard Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg led for nearly 38 of the 40 minutes in the contest, including leading by as many as 17 points in the second half, as the Auggies went on to secure the 56-45 victory.
• Zangel led the Auggies both offensively and on the boards with an 11-point, six rebound effort.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was Parker Hines (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Minnehaha Academy HS) and Collin Olmscheid (FY, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS), who finished with 10 points apiece.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 38.3 percent (18-of-47) from the field, while Macalester connected on just 30.0 percent (15-of-50) of its shots.

• The Auggies posted a 38-32 advantage on the boards.
• Augsburg outscored Macalester 30-10 in points in the paint and 15-8 in points off turnovers.
• The Auggies were able to force three Macalester players to foul out, creating 29 free-throw attempts compared to just 14 for the Scots.
