Lillquist career-high leads Auggies to OT victory

MINNEAPOLIS -- Jessica Lillquist (JR, Sebeka, Minn./Sebeka HS) scored a career-high 31 points to led the Augsburg College women's basketball team in an 83-77 overtime victory over St. Catherine University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• St. Catherine shot an incredible 71.4 percent (15-of-21) in the first-half, but Augsburg rallied back from a 14 point deficit to send the game to overtime. Marie Fitzgerald (JR, Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson HS) claimed a key steal and layup with just 19 seconds remainig to send the game to overtime.
• The Auggies started overtime on an 8-0 run and outscored the Wildcats 14-8 in the extra frame to claim the important MIAC victory.
• Lillquist posted a career-high 31 points on the afternoon, finishing 11-of-16 from the floor, while adding six rebounds, three assists and a steal.
• Fitzgerald and Jenna Orth (JR, Melrose, Minn.) posted 14 points apiece for the Auggies. Orth added eight steals and five assists on the afternoon.
• Abbey Luger (SR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) also finished in double figures for the Auggies, posting 11 points, while adding eight rebounds and four assists.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 43.3 percent (29-of-67) from the field, while St. Catherine connected 51.8 percent (29-of-56) of its shot attempts.
• The Auggies claimed an impressive 44-30 advantage on the boards.
• Augsburg outscored St. Catherine 15-6 in second chance points.

FOR THE FOES
• Audra Clark led the Wildcats offensively with 22 points.
• St. Kate's was led on the boards by LaShay Holt, who pulled down nine rebounds and added 10 points.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The overtime victory marked the first OT win for the Auggies since a January 19, 2004 82-81 OT victory also over St. Catherine University.
• With the win, the Auggies move into a tie with the College of Saint Benedict for the sixth and final playoff shot.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday (2/11) when the Auggies travel to Northfield, Minn. to take on St. Olaf College at 7 p.m.
• St. Catherine also returns to action on Wednesday (2/11) when the Wildcats travel take on St. Thomas.
