Auggies shut out Benedictine in 2nd half of 14-4 win

LISLE, Ill. -- Shutting out their opponents in the second half, the Augsburg College women's lacrosse team claimed a 14-4 victory over Benedictine University (Ill.) on Sunday morning at the Benedictine Sports Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Playing with just 10 players, Augsburg outshot Benedictine by a 33-15 margin, including a 17-6 advantage in the second half, in which the Auggies outscored the Eagles 9-0.
• Delaney Everett (FY, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored four goals with two assists to lead the Auggies in the win, while Rachel Frantz (SO, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored three goals with two assists.
• Everett scored three straight goals in an eight-minute span late in the game, including a goal on a free-position shot. Frantz also scored two straight goals late in the contest.
• Rachel Dvorak (FY, Stoughton, Wis.) scored three goals and Lexi Halvorson (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored Augsburg's first two goals of the game, adding an assist for a three-point day.
• Katie Luschwitz (SO, Whitney Point, N.Y.) scored a goal and assist, Dezera Sieracki (SO, Wyoming, Minn./Centennial HS) scored a goal and Nicole Szczebak (SO, Goodyear, Ariz./Desert Edge HS) added an assist.
• Augsburg and Benedictine had seven draw controls each, while the Auggies had 17 ground balls to Benedictine's 15.
• Everett had four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Sieracki had two draw controls, four ground balls and a caused turnover. Frantz had three caused turnovers and a ground ball. Halvorson had two caused turnovers, two ground balls and a draw control.

• Goalie Marissa Guillou (FY, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had five saves in the win.

FOR THE FOES
• Becca Gullett scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Eagles, while Samantha Link and Nikki Gullett also scored goals.
• Hannah Smith had 11 saves in goal.
