Hamline scores 10-4 win over Auggies

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Tyler "Jonesy" Buescher (SO, Prior Lake, Minn.) went 2-for-5 with a run scored, leading the Augsburg College baseball team in a 10-4 loss to host Hamline University in a nonconference baseball game on Saturday afternoon at CHS Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg was outhit by a 15-9 margin in the nonconference contest. 
• Gordon Kappers (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS), Brandon Schmahl (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) and Andrew Julkowski (JR, Cedar, Minn./St. Francis HS) each hit doubles for the Auggies. 
• Kappers led off the seventh inning with a double, then came around to score on a double by Julkowski for the Auggies' first run. Josh Marlowe (SO, North St. Paul, Minn.) then hit a two-out single to plate Julkowski.
• In the eighth inning, Buescher and Billy Brookshaw (JR, Prescott, Wis.) hit back-to-back singles, and both scored on a double by Schmahl.
• Seven different Auggies pitched in the game. Tyler Flakne (SR, Fridley, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) had two strikeouts in 2.1 innings of relief.

FOR THE FOES
• Colin Olstad went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead Hamline, while Dan Moro went 2-for-3 with four runs scored.
• Evan Cordell went 2-for-4 with three RBI, Joe Setrum went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Jacob Picht went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
