Auggie men's soccer claims 1-0 win in MIAC opener

WINONA, Minn. -- Barinedum Kordah (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) scored the lone goal of the game early in the second half, giving Augsburg College a 1-0 triumph over Saint Mary's University in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer opener for both teams on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Kordah scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Auggies in the 50th minute, assisted by Mohamed Sankoh (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Como Park HS) and Sam Connor (SR, Becket, Mass./Williston Northampton School).
• The goal was Kordah's team-high fourth goal of the season. Kordah has four of Augsburg's six goals scored so far this season. Sankoh now has a team-best three assists on the year.
• Saint Mary's claimed a 14-9 advantage in shots in the game. Sankoh had three shots for the Auggies.
Tommy Molski (SO, Woodbury, Minn./North St. Paul HS) picked up his second straight shutout win in goal for the Auggies, collecting five saves -- all in the second half.

FOR THE FOES
• Blake Dimock had three shots for Saint Mary's, with Jared Wolt, Ryan Geidner, Cody Balogh and Ray Roesler recording two shots each.
• Nate Levy had eight saves in goal for the Cardinals.
