Augsburg volleyball earns back-to-back sweeps at Cornell

BOXSCORE 1 | BOXSCORE 2 MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- The No. 20-ranked Augsburg College volleyball team beat Loras College and Cornell College in straight sets, earning the sweep of Loras by scores of 25-21, 25-15, 25-20 and Cornell by scores of 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 in a nonconference triangular on Saturday afternoon at Cornell.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CORNELL
• Augsburg was able to record the sweep of Cornell, avenging last year's NCAA Division III national tournament first-round tournment loss to the Rams. 
• Ashley Peper (SR, Bloomington, Minn/Jefferson HS) continuted her dominance, finishing with 17 kills, 10 digs, two assists and a solo block. 
• Bridget Bednar (SO, Pierz, Minn.) tallied nine kills with an attack percentage of .529, second to only Peper's .533 in the match. 
Jessica Lillquist (SR, Sebeka, Minn.) recorded seven kills, while Jaelyn Arndt (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) and Taylor Linn (SO, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) each recorded six kills with Linn adding 12 digs. 
• Courtney Lemke (JR, Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) led all players with 37 assists. Lemke added eight digs and two kills for the Auggies.
• Macey Terhell (FY, Osceola, Wis.) recorded a match-high 15 digs and three service aces, while DeeDee Maier (JR, Middleton, Wis.) finished with eight digs and two aces. 

FOR THE FOES (CORNELL)
• Diamond Boyd recorded 10 kills with an attack percentage of .273, while Katherine Thompson finished with six kills. 
• Katherine Devin and Jillian Schulte dished out 19 and 16 assists respectively to lead the Rams.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LORAS
Ashley Peper led the Auggies with 13 kills, 13 digs, three assists and a block with a hitting percentage of .276. 
• Jessica Lillquist was just as impressive, recording a .389 hitting percentage and tallying nine kills. 
• Bridget Bednar has come on strong in the last three Auggie matches, finishing the match against Loras with six kills and two blocks. 
• Courtney Lemke dished out a match-high 33 assists to go along with seven digs and three kills. 
• Taylor Linn had a well-rounded match as well with four service aces, nine digs, two kills and one solo block. 
• Macey Terhell anchored the Auggie defense and led all players with 18 digs in the match. 

FOR THE FOES (LORAS)
• No Loras player finished with double digit kills, but Liz Jendra and Danni Kennedy led them with six kills apiece. 
• Jenna LaCorte and Jenna Erickson split setting duties and finished with 13 and 12 respectively.

• Augsburg returns to conference play on Wednesday (9/23) at 7 p.m., hosting Concordia College-Moorhead at Si Melby Hall.
