Auggies lose in straight sets to Cobbers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Limited to a .140 attack percentage in the match, the Augsburg College volleyball team was swept by Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg was held to a .140 attack percentage in the match. The last time Augsburg recorded a sub .150 attack percentage was on Sept. 9 against the University of Wisconsin-Stout in a four-set win. In that match, the Auggies held UW-Stout to a .056 attack percentage to earn the win. Meanwhile Concordia recorded a .269 attack percentage en route to the sweep.
• Ashley Peper (SR, Bloomington, Minn/Jefferson HS) led all players with 15 kills on 29 attempts for an attack percentage of .379. Peper also recorded 11 digs, a block and an assist.
• Jessica Lillquist (SR, Sebeka, Minn.) and Jaelyn Arndt (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) each finished with six kills, while Taylor Linn (SO, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) recorded four for the Auggies. 
• Courtney Lemke (JR, Brownton, Minn./Gencoe-Silver Lake HS) finished with a match-high 30 assists, while Macey Terhell (FY, Osceola, Wis.) recorded 14 digs.  

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg's loss to Concordia ended a winning streak for the Auggies over the Cobbers that started two seasons ago when the Auggies secured its regular season MIAC championship by sweeping Concordia on Oct. 30, 2013. 
• The loss also snapped an eight-match winning streak for the No. 19-ranked Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Heather Beaner led the Cobbers with nine kills on 16 attempts, while Olivia Wangensteen recorded eight kills. 
• Korbyn Ross finished with a match-high 19 digs, and Mandy Mercil finished with 19 assists. 

UP NEXT
• Augsburg will host a triangular this weekend as Carleton and UW-River Falls will travel to Minneapolis for two matches. The Auggies take the court against Carleton on Saturday (9/26) at 1 p.m. then UW-River Falls at 5 p.m. with the Carleton and River Falls match started at 3 p.m.
• Concordia will host Hamline on Saturday (9/26) at 3 p.m.
