Auggie streak snapped by No. 8 Blugolds

MINNEAPOLIS -- Eli May (SO, Eagan, Minn.) gave his Augsburg College men's hockey team a lead in the second period, but two third-period goals gave the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire a 2-1 win in a nonconference men's hockey game on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• May scored the first goal of the game for the Auggies, his seventh of the season, assisted by Rory Vesel (JR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) and Chris Nuth (JR, Trabuco Canyon, Calif./Mission Viejo HS), at the 15:08 mark of the second period.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Eau Claire by a 31-26 margin in the game. 
• The loss snapped a streak of five straight victories by Augsburg. Augsburg is now 8-2-0 in its last 10 games.
• Vesel now has a team-high 12 assists on the season, tied for fifth-most 
among MIAC players in overall statistics.
• Trevor Stewart (JR, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Eastmont HS) and Luke Dietsch (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) had five shots on-goal each for the Auggies, while May had four shots.
• Jordyn Kaufer (SO, Stillwater, Minn.) had 24 saves in goal for Augsburg.


FOR THE FOES
• Jesse Tredinnick tied the game for UW-Eau Claire with a goal at the 12:12 mark of the third period, assisted by Brandon Wahlin and Jake Hopfner.
• The Blugolds took the lead with 1:14 remaining in the game, as Patrick Moore scored from Adam Knochenmus and David Henry.
• Tyler Green collected 30 saves in goal for UW-Eau Claire, ranked No. 8 in the latest USCHO.com Division III national poll.
